The beach body is perhaps one of the most sought-after body shapes when it comes to physical appearance for both men and women. It is not just about fitting into that bikini or being able to walk on the beach without feeling embarrassed about your tummy. It is about looking and feeling good about yourself.
Everyone wants a solution that is fast and yet safe at the same time. But there is no one single solution when it comes to losing weight. There are many treatments, diet plans, supplements, weight loss medications, exercise programmes, and many other weight loss regimes that we can subscribe or adopt to achieve our goals. The problem with having so many options is the conundrum of “what and which one is for me?”
What works depends on several factors including an individual’s lifestyle and genetic makeup. And even after you have found the right one for you, will you have the tenacity and patience to see it through? Some may find it hard to sustain a weight loss regime, and some may give up even before starting. This is not surprising since weight loss is a mental challenge as much as a physical one.
Many people also give up on their weight loss effort after experiencing multiple failed attempts at trying all sorts of fad diets or weight loss plans they have read on the Internet that claim to be “quick and easy”. The reason why the weight loss journey for many people is filled with disillusionment, frustration, anger, and uncertainty is that people want it so badly that they want it fast, but this is difficult to achieve! If only there is a shortcut to a beautiful beach body.
So is there?
Just like how you do not expect a newborn baby to walk like on the second day, you should not expect weight loss to be immediate. Weight loss is a journey that you will need to walk with someone knowledgeable, kind, encouraging, experienced, and who is armed with the right tools to guide you on a safe path. It is a journey you should embark on after careful research. Above all, one should resist the urge to be impatient during the trip.
It is better to walk a weight loss journey with the right method. Use the right tool for the amount of time prescribed by your weight loss physician or nutritionist. Do not take unproductive routes by adopting Internet “quick-win” methods one after another without even getting to your destination. Like a child who would need to put in hard work to learn how to walk, we too must quiet our mind and tell our body to unlearn bad habits and be persistent with good ones.
